Odebrecht was already born with the spirit of renewal which has become its trademark. The small company we founded in Salvador, in 1944, was the result of the combined experience of my father’s construction company – which pioneered, in 1919, the reinforced concrete technology in the Northeast of Brazil – and inherited the Human Beings educated by him. To innovate, we introduced the practices of decentralization, planned delegation, partnership and results sharing, going against the teachings of Taylor and Fayol, commonly practiced at that time.
Since then, we have been continuously reinventing ourselves, building throughout the years the Odebrecht Entrepreneurial Technology (TEO). In accordance to TEO, each leader is uniquely responsible for results, deadlines, costs and Client satisfaction. In order to Survive, with Growth and Perpetuity, we constantly recruit and groom new generations in a permanent process of planned succession. Adapting to the new and growing challenges, Young Directors, with the Shareholders’ delegation, are challenged to take full responsibility for entrepreneurial decisions for which they were prepared.
With the Spirit of Service, Vision for the Future and the Spirit of Time, we educate people for Life, through Work, based on Values and Limits.
As we turn 65, we are continuing the ongoing process of innovating and renewing the Group, where three Generations work jointly. We are service providers with diversified businesses and a decentralized international presence, in order to give ever better service to our Clients and the Communities in which we are present, with Discipline that earns Respect and yields Trust.
