São Salvador hydroelectric plant
Odebrecht is an active participant in the national effort to ensure that Brazil has sufficient energy to grow its productive activities.
The main highlight in 2008 was winning and signing an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract for the 3,150-MW Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Power Plant in Rondônia, Brazil. Within the scope of this project, the company has introduced the ongoing professional education program called Acreditar (“Believe”).

Highlights in 2008
In addition to the Santo Antônio hydroelectric plant, some highlights included:
- winning and signing the contract to build the 350-MW Baixo Iguaçu hydroelectric plant in the state of Paraná
- the completion of the 243.2-MWSão Salvador hydroelectric plant in Tocantins
- completed the retrofitting of the Furnas, MG, Luiz Carlos Barreto de Carvalho, SP/MG, and Mascarenhas de Moraes, SP, hydroelectric plants
