Created in 2008, Odebrecht Engenharia Ambiental is active in the basic sanitation and industrial waste and wastewater treatment sectors.

In basic sanitation, it is responsible for water and sewer concessions in the cities of Limeira, São Paulo, and Cachoeiro do Itapemirim, Espírito Santo, as well as sewer systems in Mauá and Rio Claro, in São Paulo State, and Rio das Ostras, in Rio de Janeiro State. The Rio Claro and Rio das Ostras systems are the first sanitation PPPs (Public-Private Partnerships) with city governments ever implemented in Brazil.

Odebrecht Engenharia Ambiental also has affiliates whose clients are state and municipal sanitation companies. Through another PPP, it is responsible for the management of the Jaguaribe Marine Outfall System in the city of Salvador, BA, a project that is now in the pre-operations phase, run by Embasa (Empresa Baiana de Águas e Saneamento). In partnership with Sanasa (Sociedade de Abastecimento de Água e Saneamento S.A), OEA is responsible for leasing the assets of the Capivari I sewage treatment plant in Campinas. In the state of Espírito Santo, through a contract with Cesan (Companhia Espírito Santense de Saneamento), it operates and maintains the sewage collection and treatment system for Greater Grande Vitória.

In the industrial area, Odebrecht Engenharia Ambiental affiliate Lumina Soluções Ambientais treats industrial waste and wastewater and remediates contaminated areas, among other services. Lumina’s main clients are Petrobras subsidiaries. It owns the Construction Waste Treatment Plant (CTR Grajaú) in São Paulo City, and works at the Camaçari Petrochemical Complex through its affiliate Cetrel-Lumina.
